2016 Artists' Studio Tour

During the annual Artists' Studio Tour, artists and artisans from all around San Juan Island open their studios for visits by the public. For this year's tour -- the 25th Annual, held on the weekend of June 4-5 -- my wife, Anne L. Watson, and I visited four studios to see the work of the owners and their guests.

2016 Hill of Thrills Soap Box Race

The Hill of Thrills, held on May 21, was to be the first of an annual old-fashioned soap box race sponsored by Island Rec. It was good fun, and I got to photograph it for our local print newspaper, the San Juan Islands Journal. The race course ran along Park Street between Marguerite and Price, just west of Friday Harbor Middle School. There were divisions for several age groups, including adult!

2016 Children's Festival

The annual Island Rec Children's Festival, held at the County Fairgrounds, is one of my favorite events of the year. I love photographing kids! This year it was on May 7, and I covered it for the San Juan Islands Journal, our local print newspaper.

A special feature of this year's festival was the appearance of some of the people helping with the upcoming first annual Hill of Thrills Soap Box Race, also sponsored by Island Rec.
